Makeup Brushes Tips & Tricks

4/24/2017

These are hacks which include using makeup brushes, these tips and tricks can help you with your makeup brushes and tools, it can save you buying, but also show you good techniques so you can apply your makeup well.
  • If you do not have a fan brush but do have an extra fluffy brush you can turn that into a fan brush just using two bobby pins and placing them towards the end of the brush to flatten out the brush and use it as a fan brush, a fan brush is used for applying highlight it allows you place the highlight in a straight line using a fan brush.
  • If you have a spare foundation brush you can use that for applying face masks or face creams, using a foundation brush to apply it on will help you to apply an even layer but also save your fingers from getting filled with the product, meaning you will be wasting less product and using most of it on your face.
  • If you have extra lip liner and precision brushes you can use them for nail art designs they are thin so you can easily make patterns and different designs with them and then clean it off with nail polish remover or water to use different colours, rather than having to buy nail art tools.
  • This tip is to help you apply your eyeshadow even eyeliner and your whole face makeup. Use makeup setting spray I use the Mac Prep + Prime fix spray in travel size it is only £10 and it does a good job in making the eyeshadow more pigmented and helps your makeup last longer making sure it does not smudge, or even water can help to make eyeshadows pigmented, but I recommend this spray.
  • You have an eyeshadow brush but it has leftover eyeshadow colour still on the brush and you don't want to wash the brush, this tip can help. Use the back of a sellotape, so the sticky part and pat the eyeshadow brush onto it and you will see the eyeshadow coming off as it is sticking to sellotape. After doing this will remove all the eyeshadow so you can go ahead and use the colour you want.
  • This tip is for your hair using an eyeshadow brush, if you have hair missing at the front or just want your forehead to look fuller on your forehead you can easily hide this using eyeshadow the same colour as your hair, so black eyeshadow for black hair and so on and just fill in the area with eyeshadow lightly you will see a massive difference your hair will look more fuller.
  • This tip is to help look after your makeup brushes and clean them, I prefer this makeup brush cleaner as it has different patterns on and I feel the spots pattern cleans the brushes more better. You can use smaller brushes on different areas and bigger brushes differently. These are really affordable online you can get them for £1 on online e-commerce websites like eBay and Aliexpress.
  • The last tip is using a makeup tool which is an eyelash curler to make your eyelashes stay curled for more longer, by curling your eyelashes with heat using a hair dryer on the eyelash curler can definitely help because when we straighten our hair with hair straighteners it only works with heat without heat it would not work, same with eyelashes. But make sure you are careful only a few seconds of heat is needed and before you apply your mascara. You can also purchase heated eyelash curlers that stimulate heat itself this is the one I have and it works well.

I hope these tips and tricks will help you using your makeup brushes and tools.

Makeup Tips Foundation and Concealer

6/07/2016

This is a step to step guide on how to apply foundation and concealer, these tips will hopefully make you more knowledgeable on how to apply foundation and concealer, which are the first steps when applying makeup. It will also be easy for makeup beginners to follow and learn these tips and tricks to apply their foundation and concealer correctly and perfectly.

Preparing the skin

Before applying makeup the most important thing is to make sure your face is clean and fresh and your hands because you may use your hands to apply as well, so start off by washing and cleansing your face, to remove any dirt or old makeup. You can do this with water and facial wash or with a makeup remover.

After that you want to make sure your face is moisturised by using a moisturiser, and using a sunblock can also be beneficial, or if you think you need to include it in your routine. If you want your makeup to last long a face primer can also be considered but this optional.

Choosing the right foundation and concealer

The things to consider before choosing the right foundation are choosing the right shade that matches your skin tone. If you are having trouble choosing the right shade I suggest you buy 2 or 3 shades which you think are near enough matching your skin type this could be starting from the lightest and ending with the darkest and then from them you can pick which one suits you best. You can test the foundation on your neck/jawline and face to see which one closely matches your skin colour. It's also important to blend the foundation to see if it truly matches.

Choosing the type of coverage is also important so you can achieve the end result you are wanting, the options are sheer, medium or full. If you want a natural look you would probably want to use a sheer foundation which looks natural on your face and gives less coverage, if you want a medium look this will be kind average coverage and for a full face coverage would mean a full foundation face.

Lastly, the type of finish you want, a matte finish is suited for oily skin type because it hides the oily skin, dewy finish is suited for dry skin type because that type of foundation gives your face a glow, and a satin finish can be suited for nearly all skin types. There is also compact powder which is a powder foundation, which is normally used to give the foundation a setting.

Foundation is totally optional if you only want to cover some areas on your face you can do that only using a concealer and using it on the areas that need it like, around your nose, under your eyes and on the chin.

Applying Foundation

When applying foundation you need to make sure you are using the correct equipment to apply which suits you. There are different ways you can apply foundation this includes fingertips, stippling brushes, flat brushes, beauty blender and sponges.  You can use one of these methods or you can use more than one it's totally up to you.

Some prefer applying concealer first and then foundation, whereas some  prefer foundation first and then concealer, to find out the best way for you is to simply trial and error to see which method is most successful for you. Apply gently to the areas you want to apply the foundation on, if you think you need more you can always add another layer of foundation but one or two layers should be enough.

If you need to hide any blemishes, dark spots or circles, you can do that by using a concealer again use a concealer that matches your skin colour perfectly, but also the one that has full coverage, apply it to the areas where the discolouration is, you can use a concealer brush or your fingertips to apply this.

Setting powder/compact powder can be used to set the foundation and concealer, as well as, setting sprays can also be used after when you have finished with applying your makeup, hold the spray a small distance from your face and lightly mist the face.

You can use coconut oil as an alternative face moisturiser, it has so many benefits and it's affordable, it helps hydrate your skin as well as decrease wrinkles and minimise scars. It will remove any impurities from your skin and leave your skin looking fresh and softer. All you need to do is apply coconut oil to your face and moisturise, at least once a day or as suitable for you.

Body Scrub

Coconut oil can be used all over the body as well as just your face, if you have dry skin on your body coconut oil can help it soften and also leave your body feel smooth, it is really helpful to use something like coconut oil when you remove hair as well, it is a good shaving oil and it will make removing hair easier and also leave the skin free from irritation.

Hair Treatment

Coconut oil can make your hair look and feel healthier, it can also help with frizziness and dry hair, it will give your hair a natural shine as well as making it strengthen. Simply apply and massage the coconut oil into your hair from the roots to the bottom, a few hours before you wash your hair and then go ahead and wash it out. If you have dry lips coconut oil nourishes the lips, so there is no cracks or flakes on your lips, you simply rub the coconut oil on your lips until you think they are soft and smooth and then rinse. Doing this repeatedly will keep your lips softer for even longer. As it's completely edible, the oil won't do any harm if you ingest a little.

Haircare Tips For All Hair Types

5/27/2016

These are some hair tips which you can add into your haircare routine, so your hair can get the best care from you and also look healthy and shiny. No matter what hair type you are these do's and dont's will help you have more healthier, happier and manageable hair.

haircare tips
The frequency of washing your hair is a big factor in keeping your hair clean as well as looking after it, did you know that if you wash your hair too much you are actually making it dry which can lead to easy hair loss and dry scalp, and we don't want that. So, if you already have dry or coarse hair, a haircare tip would be to wash your hair every either second or third day, basically, two or three times a week using a moisturising shampoo that can change your dry hair to beautiful shiny hair.

If you have oily or fine hair and you want to get rid of the greasiness of your hair, washing your hair everyday for a short term of time (maybe three to six months) can help this, and when you feel your hair is improving you can change your routine to washing your hair every other day, so that would be either three or four days a week, it is recommended to wash your hair every other day if you have normal hair.

Also, try and wash your hair with medium temperature water, so a mix of warm and cold water. Washing your hair with warm water can make your scalp dry and can cause dandruff, whereas cold water actually gives your hair a shine and makes sure you dont cause any damage.

In addition to washing your hair, try and avoid drying your hair with a hair dryer and go natural because it's best to let your hair dry naturally if you have no time to air dry your hair use a low warm setting on your hair dryer, as well as heat protection.

When drying your hair with a towel don't be too harsh as I know we only do that to make the hair dry faster, but that actually splits the hair and can cause it to break, so instead pat your hair on the towel and be generous.

Shampooing your hair

Before you go to wash your hair it is important to comb or brush your hair, so your hair is knot free this will help more water and more shampoo to get into your hair easily to make it even more clean and for the shampoo and conditioner to do its work for you to get the best results.

Before applying shampoo make sure you wash your hair naturally with water first to get rid of any dust or dirt then apply shampoo. However, don't shampoo or conditioner your scalp too much as this can cause dandruff and spots to appear on the scalp. Also, use products that match your hair type.

You don't need to use a lot of shampoo, it is recommended to use about 2.5 cm circle of shampoo. Try and use natural shampoos if you can or even dry shampoo or shampoos that have the good end result that you are wanting your hair to have. Honey can be used to make your hair shiny.

Also, when washing your hair don't use steaming hot water as it can make your scalp dry and can cause dandruff, and obviously you don't want to use cold water either because you don't want to freeze, so it's best to use a mix of warm and cold water as it's much better for your skin and hair.

Brushing/Styling your hair

Brushing your hair at least every single day is good to make sure your hair isn't making any knots, and obviously you would want to have a change of style on your hair everyday and to make that style it is important to brush your hair, and when brushing just be gentle with your hair and any knots you have.

Too much brushing can lead to damaging your hair, so be gentle because brushing your hair too hard can cause hair loss and hair damage. It's always best to brush your hair from the end first to get rid of any tangles and then when that's done you can fully brush your hair, from the top to the bottom it will be much easier and gentle for your hair.

Brush your hair when it is dry, so basically before it is wet and before you go to wash it, so that way it can make it easy for you to comb your hair after you have washed your hair.

When it's a lazy hair day and you don't feel like brushing your hair, a little bit of a brush can really help or even keeping your hair in a bun can also prevent the lower ends of your hair getting tangles.

Using too much of heat tools on your hair can indeed damage your hair, the way to cut back on that is to use natural ways to straighten and curl your hair. To straighten your hair naturally, after you have washed your hair brushing and combing wet hair until it is dry can help it go straight with the help of hair oil.

Now if you are looking to curl your hair as well, there are ways naturally you can do that, plaiting your hair can give your hair a wavy and curly look, hair rollers can make your hair curly and there are hair rollers which you can get that are not heat rollers and in different sizes, to achieve wavy hair results twist your gently round then form a bun in a few hours you will have wavy hair, these techniques don't involve using heat but can still give your hair some style.
